Unlike the older, non-drainage Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems (EIFS), which garnered plenty of bad publicity back in the 90’s, the modern Sto EIFS systems feature a multi-layer protection method for your home or commercial building.
StoTherm EIFS Next systems, available in a “standard”, “mid-grade”, or “premium” version, now insulate and protect your exterior walls like no other cladding. StoTherm EIFS Next systems provide StoGuard, a liquid-applied building wrap, offering seamless waterproof protection for moisture sensitive sheathing substrates such as plywood, OSB, and gypsum based sheathing. Excellent moisture drainage cababilities are included in our StoTherm EIFS Next systems.
Available in either breathable or vapor barrier formulations, StoGuard is the foundation of a good wall design, far outperforming standard house wraps, which are punched full of staple or nail holes when installed. Since 2000, StoGuard has been at the technological forefront of fluid-applied air and moisture barriers.
The “I” in EIFS is insulation. And StoTherm EIFS features plenty of it! Foam thicknesses from 1” to as much as 12” give your walls a layer of continuous exterior insulation, with a drainage path between the insulation and your wall sheathing. Continuous Insulation (C.I.) is now a required component of the building codes. Sto has more than 850 million square feet of Therm EIFS installed worldwide, since the company began over 40 years ago.
With Sto EIFS, the benefits are:
- reduced air infiltration and heat loss, for increased interior comfort.
- Significant energy savings in both hot and cold climates.
- Durability and low maintenance, especially with the Lotusan finish
- Design freedom and versatility, with foam shapes and high impact mesh.
- Low structural steel requirements, due to the system’s light weight.
